Every day, foster families across Prince Edward Island open their homes and their hearts to children who need safe and loving homes. At any given time, there are about 170 children in foster care receiving a safe and nurturing home environment where they feel loved and supported.
Foster families play an important role in our communities by providing care on a short or long-term basis for children up to age 18.
How do I know if foster parenting may be right for me?You may have been thinking for a long time about welcoming a child into your home through foster care. Our frequently asked questions and answers will help you decide if foster parenting is the best choice for you now.
Upcoming Foster Parent Information sessions
Plan to attend a one hour information session to learn more about becoming a foster parent. Sessions will be held in Charlottetown, Summerside and O'Leary.
Charlottetown: Meetings are held at the Sherwood Business Centre, 161 St. Peters Road at 7 p.m. Please use St. Peters Road entrance beside Razzys Roadhouse.
Next Date and Time: September 16, October 21 and November 25, 2015.
Summerside: Prince County Hospital, 65 Roy Boates Ave. Summerside. Meetings will be held in the St. Lawrence Room at 5:15 p.m.
Dates: May 28, 2015; June 18, 2015 and July 30, 2015.
O'Leary: O'Leary Access PEI Centre, 45 East Drive, O'Leary. Meeting will be held in the Boardroom at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
Dates: June 4, 2015 and July 2, 2015.
